Pilot International in partnership with Green Bio Energy is carrying out vocational training by developing capacity of the Grassroots community to manufacture and sell briquettes. This project ensures community development to uplift the standards of the youth, women and men.
Pilot International is very instrumental in mobilizing the community into development groups, financing and implementing free community sensitizations and training programmes in briquette making, usage and marketing. Briquette is the newly improved charcoal made out of domestic agricultural waste, such as banana, potato, cassava Irish potato peelings among others.
This briquette Project is aimed at replacing the traditional charcoal produced by cutting down trees which has contributed to massive deforestation and environmental degradation. The project therefore, helps in reducing deforestation and green house gas (GHG) emissions hence ensuring environmental protection with the following added benefits:
Providing clean cooking energy to the community as an alternative to charcoal;
Providing an innovative solution to waste disposal to get rid of uncollected waste thereby improving public health;
Engaging the community to initiate sustainable businesses and create their own employment thereby reducing the level of un employment in Uganda.
